The problem

The catalog is in Commerce Manager. The ads still don’t show it.

A catalog for Facebook and Instagram is quick to set up: from the Shopify app, from a plugin or from a file. Then Meta reviews every product, the ads only show what’s clean, and the error report gets longer than the catalog. Whatever falls through the cracks, you’re still putting ad budget behind every day.

  1. Products rejected, ads run without them.

Meta automatically checks every product in the catalog against its policies. Whatever fails appears neither in catalog ads nor with product tags. Often it’s titles in all caps, missing details or a link that doesn’t lead to your product page.

  2. Required fields missing, variants break.

Every product needs a title, description, availability, condition, price, link, image and brand, plus the GTIN as an identifier. Variants need a group ID and, for each variant, its own combination of color or size. A plugin exports whatever is there.

  3. Price and inventory lag behind your store.

The catalog shows whatever the last upload brought. A file that runs once a day advertises yesterday’s prices and products that sold out long ago. Meta removes sold-out products from ads, but only if the feed reports it in time.

  4. The pixel doesn’t know the catalog.

Catalog ads show visitors the products they viewed in your store. For that, the ID in the feed has to match the ID in the pixel exactly. If it doesn’t, Meta can’t match visits to any product, and the ads go nowhere.

The Meta feed takes that off your hands: built once, then it runs from your store.

What’s missing in your catalog? We’ll take a look in the audit.

Our approach

Automate first. Then optimize.

Many agencies maintain feeds as a file: export, fix things in the spreadsheet, upload, and start over at the next error. We build the feed once from your store, with rules for the whole catalog. Whatever we improve after that applies to every product.

Comparison: file by file or one feed from your store
Usual: file by file Unhooked: one feed from your store
Data source Export, spreadsheet, upload Your store, automatically
One change By hand in every file Once in your store, everywhere in the feed
Rejections After the fact, product by product Rules for the whole catalog, before the platform checks
New country, new platform The work starts over Builds on the feed
Billing By the hour, for as long as it takes Once at a fixed price. No hourly rates, no revenue share.

All four ways onto marketplaces, compared

How it works

Maintain it once in your store. Live on Facebook and Instagram.

Your store stays the single data source. The feed translates it into Commerce Manager’s fields, and Meta fetches it on a schedule.

  1. You manage your store.

Products, prices and inventory as before, in Shopify, WooCommerce or your PIM.

  2. We build the Meta feed.

Required fields, Google product category and variants following Commerce Manager’s rules, titles and descriptions from your store, the product ID matching your pixel. Everything in your Channable account, which belongs to you.

  3. The feed updates itself.

Meta fetches the feed on a schedule, up to hourly. Prices and availability come from your store, and sold-out products disappear from your ads.

One product. Every variant one row in the catalog.

In your store
“Men’s trail running shoe”
In the Meta feed, variant Gray
“Trail-Laufschuh Herren, Grau”
In the Meta feed, variant Black
“Trail-Laufschuh Herren, Schwarz”
In the Meta feed, variant Blue
“Trail-Laufschuh Herren, Blau”
  • Required fields complete
  • Category assigned
  • Each variant one row, linked as a group
  • Price and availability from your store
  • Already have a Google feed?

Meta reads the same fields: title, price, availability, GTIN, Google product category. The Meta feed builds on it, adding variants, a category per product and the IDs that match your pixel.

  • Your catalog comes from the Shopify app or a plugin?

Then we’ll see in the audit what’s missing there: title rules, categories, variants, countries. The feed from Channable takes over the fields the app can’t handle and only replaces them where necessary.

  • The Channable account is yours.

You get a handover and documentation and can step in yourself at any time.

The feed for Meta. Once.

We build your catalog feed for Commerce Manager: required fields, categories, variants and the product IDs that match your pixel. That happens once, then the feed runs from your store.

  • Every variant as its own row, linked as a group

You know your products. I know feeds.

I’m Luis, founder of Unhooked. I build every feed myself in Channable, just like each of the more than 120 marketplace integrations, for more than 50 customers. We build feeds for Google Shopping and Meta from the same foundation: import, rules, variants. From the first call, you talk to me, not to a sales team.

  • You’re looking for someone to run your campaigns. We build the feed.
  • Product data is missing, and nobody can maintain it.

FAQ about the Meta feed

Your question isn’t here? Ask it in the audit, that’s what it’s for.

What does the Meta feed cost?

You pay for the feed once, at a fixed price. Every additional country costs less, because data and rules are already in place. No hourly rates, no revenue share. We tell you the price in the first call, not after three.

How fast will the feed be live?

Within 7 business days. The clock starts as soon as we have access to your Channable account, the data source is connected and you’ve selected the products.

Do we have to apply to Meta, and does Meta review us?

There’s no application. You need a business portfolio with your Facebook Page or Instagram profile, and in it Commerce Manager with a catalog; if the catalog is missing, we set it up with you. After the upload, Meta automatically reviews every product against its policies. For product tagging on Instagram and for shops, where Meta offers them, Meta’s eligibility requirements apply, above all your own domain that the product links lead to.

What details does Meta require for each product?

A unique ID, title, description, availability, condition, price, link to the product page, image and brand, plus the GTIN as an identifier. For variants, a group ID and, for each variant, color, size or another attribute, each combination only once. Plus the Google product category, so Meta can classify the product. The feed fills all of this from your store, with rules for the whole catalog. If the platform changes its rules later, we adapt the feed on request.

Our products are being rejected in Commerce Manager. What do you do?

There are two things to separate. Errors in the feed, such as an empty required field, an invalid GTIN, an ID that clashes with the group ID or a title in all caps, we fix with rules before Meta fetches the feed. Rejections under Meta’s advertising or commerce policies are Meta’s call; there, we fix the details Meta objects to, and you can request another review. Product ranges that Meta’s policies exclude can’t be solved by any feed, and we’ll tell you that in the audit.

What about the pixel?

Catalog ads show visitors the products they viewed in your store. For that, the product ID in the feed has to match the ID your pixel sends exactly. We make sure of that in the feed and check it in Commerce Manager. You or your agency install the pixel itself and the Conversions API; that’s not part of the feed.

We also sell to Austria and Switzerland. How does that work with Meta?

Through the same catalog. For each additional country, a country feed with price, availability and link is added; for each additional language, a language feed with title and description. Meta shows each user the version for their country and language. Every additional country builds on the feed and costs less, because data and rules are already in place.

We already have a Google Shopping feed or a catalog from the Shopify app. What stays?

From the Google feed, almost everything: Meta reads the same fields, title, price, availability, GTIN, Google product category, and the Meta feed builds on it. With a catalog from the Shopify app or a plugin, we’ll see in the audit what’s missing there, usually title rules, categories, variants and countries. The feed from Channable takes over the fields the app can’t handle; only what’s necessary gets replaced.

Which store systems do you connect?

Shopify and WooCommerce directly, other systems as soon as they deliver clean data, for example through an API or a PIM. We’ll see what your system can do in the audit.

How often does the catalog update?

Meta fetches the feed on a schedule we set in Commerce Manager, up to hourly. Prices and availability come from your store into the feed, and Meta removes sold-out products from your ads. You don’t upload anything anymore.

Do we need Channable?

Yes, Channable is the engine of the feed. If you don’t have an account yet, you create one and invite us. You pay the license directly to Channable, and the account belongs to you. If you already use Channable, we build the feed in your account.

Do you also run our campaigns?

No. We build the feed, and you or your agency run the campaigns. A clean feed is the foundation for that.
