Case study
Jaloom: 4,000 rug SKUs on Amazon in 4 countries, fully automated
How Jaloom went from flat-file chaos to hourly automated Amazon listings in four countries: Shopify as the data source, Channable in between.
- 93% less effort
Results
- All Amazon listings in 4 countries update automatically every hour
- Orders come together in Shopify, tracking goes back to Amazon automatically
- Amazon content can be adjusted per SKU in minutes, without re-entering all the data
4,000 SKUs. 4 countries. 4 languages. And all of it maintained by hand via flat files in Seller Central. That was the status quo at Jaloom before we automated the integration. Today, all Amazon listings update themselves every hour.
The starting point: flat-file maintenance for 4,000 SKUs
Jaloom sells rugs. Lots of them: round, rectangular, oval, runners, in all kinds of colors and materials. Around 4,000 SKUs in total, sold on Amazon in Germany, Italy, Spain and France, so every SKU times four, each with its own language.
Founder Fahim Sainani maintained every product change and every price update manually via CSV in Seller Central. With a growing catalog, at some point that’s no longer doable:
- Product data was maintained inconsistently
- Nobody had an overview of which variant was even active on which market
- Every new country multiplied the effort instead of spreading it
The solution: Shopify as the source, Channable as middleware
1. Check the foundation first
We connected Shopify to Channable. After the first import, the most important question was answered: the foundation in Shopify is solid. Variants set up cleanly, metafields filled in consistently and systematically.
We can’t stress this point enough, otherwise it’s garbage in, garbage out. The side effect of clean data in the source system (whether Shopify, Shopware, WooCommerce or a PIM): it’s not just the marketplaces that benefit, your own online store gets a better customer experience right away too.
2. Mapping to Amazon’s logic
In Channable, we split parents and variants per country into two APIs. Categories run via the product type, and attributes like manufacturer, care instructions, item dimensions, material and size are mapped by rule straight from Shopify.
3. Amazon content, cleanly separated
One problem remained: Amazon-specific fields like bullet points, SEO title, description and a separate price per country aren’t in Shopify. And they don’t belong there either.
The solution: these fields live in a Google Sheet. A script pulls new SKUs into the sheet automatically every hour, where they’re completed manually or with AI. Channable imports everything back and sends the data straight to Amazon.
The results
- Hourly updates instead of CSV chaos: All Amazon listings in four countries update automatically, and inventory is updated in real time.
- Changes in minutes: Via the sheet, relevant Amazon attributes can be adjusted quickly per SKU, without having to re-enter all the data.
- Orders in one place: All orders flow into Shopify, and tracking goes back to the customers on Amazon automatically.
“In Luis we’ve found a highly ambitious and dedicated partner. Thank you for the great collaboration!”
Fahim Sainani, Managing Director and Founder, Jaloom What other brands can take away from this
The foundation is everything. First the data in the backend has to be right, then you talk about expansion.
Manual maintenance turns into chaos at some point. With a small catalog and one country, it’s still manageable. From around 100 SKUs, or as soon as new countries are added, there’s no way around a middleware like Channable.
