Decathlon in 7 countries. One account, one integration, 9,800 products. Since mid-2026, one of our customers has been selling used golf equipment on the Decathlon Marketplace, and each additional country was connected in about a day. At the customer’s request, we’re leaving out the name.
The starting point: 9,800 products, six languages
The customer sells used golf equipment: drivers, irons, wedges, chippers. Around 9,800 products, maintained in Shopify. Decathlon wasn’t supposed to run in just one country, but in several, each in its own language. By hand, that wouldn’t be doable with six languages and almost 10,000 products.
The solution: one account, one integration, country by country
1. Two countries first, then the rest
We started with Decathlon Netherlands and France. After that, Belgium, Ireland, Germany, Spain and Italy were added one after another, all through one Decathlon account.
2. Shopify stays the source
The customer creates products in Shopify as usual. Channable imports them, prepares them for Decathlon and sends them to the marketplace. Inventory syncs automatically for all countries, and orders and tracking flow back to Shopify.
3. Only the translations per country
For each new country, only the translations are added: title, description and the web catchline, Decathlon’s short promotional line. Everything else is already in place. That’s how a country gets connected in about a day.
The results
- 7 countries, one account: The Netherlands, France, Belgium, Ireland, Germany, Spain and Italy run through one integration.
- One day per country: Each additional country was connected in about a day.
- No manual steps day to day: Products come from Shopify, inventory syncs automatically, and orders and tracking flow back to the store.
- Orders from all seven countries: From the start to mid-October 2026, 462 orders came in, with an average basket of €213.
Why Decathlon?
Next to Amazon, Decathlon isn’t a giant. But for retailers with the right range, the marketplace has clear advantages:
- One account for Europe: Decathlon runs its marketplace in 14 European countries, all through one partner account.
- A pure sports audience: Anyone searching on Decathlon wants to do sports. Visitors buy accordingly.
- Less competition: Decathlon only accepts sellers after an application. That means fewer competitors and less price pressure.
Decathlon doesn’t replace Amazon and OTTO. But as a specialist channel with the right range, it’s a really good marketplace where you’re not fighting 200 other sellers.
What other retailers can take away from this
Every additional country goes faster. Once the integration is in place, each country only needs the translations. That’s why it pays to think in several countries from the start.
Specialist marketplaces pay off with the right range. If you sell sporting goods, Decathlon gives you buyers looking for exactly that, and less competition than on Amazon.
