The question we keep hearing
We regularly get inquiries from brands currently using Tradebyte who are looking for a more affordable alternative. The reasons are always similar: costs too high, contracts too rigid, too much complexity for what they actually need. Most of them eventually land on Channable.
At Unhooked, we’ve guided this migration multiple times. This article covers why brands switch, what Channable does differently, and how the transition works in practice.
Why Tradebyte no longer fits for many
Tradebyte (TB.One) is a powerful tool. No question. But it doesn’t suit every business. Four issues we hear again and again:
High costs with no transparent pricing. Tradebyte doesn’t publish a price list. The monthly fixed costs are significantly above what many small and mid-sized brands are willing to pay. Especially when only two or three marketplaces need to be connected, the price often doesn’t match the value.
Zalando focus. Tradebyte is a Zalando subsidiary and historically built around fashion and lifestyle. If you primarily sell on Amazon, OTTO, or Kaufland, you’re paying for an ecosystem optimized for Zalando. That’s not necessarily a downside, but for many brands it’s simply not relevant.
High complexity. TB.One offers a lot of functionality. But smaller teams without dedicated technical resources quickly hit their limits. The setup is time-consuming, the learning curve steep.
Contractual lock-in. Long contract terms and limited flexibility for changes. If you want to scale up or down quickly, you’re often bound to conditions that no longer match your current setup.
What Channable does differently
Channable is not a 1:1 replacement for Tradebyte. It’s a different product with a different philosophy. But for most use cases we see, it’s the better choice.
Transparent pricing. Channable starts at 59€ per month. The marketplace module costs an additional 30€ per month. Prices are publicly available and easy to calculate. No surprises in the contract.
Industry-agnostic. Channable works just as well for fashion as it does for consumer electronics, home & living, or FMCG. The platform isn’t built for a single industry, but for the process: optimize product data, send it to channels, synchronize orders.
Easy to get started. The interface is intuitive. Feed rules can be built visually, without programming skills. Onboarding takes weeks, not months.
Feed management and marketplaces in one tool. Google Shopping, Meta, TikTok Shop, and marketplaces like Amazon, OTTO, Kaufland, Zalando, eBay, Bol.com, Galaxus, or Douglas can all be managed from a single platform. No second tool needed.
Over 3,000 integrations. Channable covers virtually every relevant channel in Europe. New marketplaces can typically be connected within a few days.
When Tradebyte is still the right choice
This article isn’t about bashing Tradebyte. There are scenarios where Tradebyte is the better solution.
If you’re deeply embedded in the Zalando ecosystem and use Zalando Fulfillment Solutions (ZFS), you benefit from the direct integration. Tradebyte has a technical advantage here.
Very large enterprise setups with dozens of marketplaces, complex ERP integrations, and dedicated development teams can benefit from the depth of the TB.One platform.
For the majority of brands we work with, that’s not the case. They sell on 3 to 10 marketplaces, have a small team, and need a solution that works fast, costs less, and is easy to use.
How a migration from Tradebyte to Channable works
We’ve done this switch multiple times. The process is standardized and typically takes 2 to 4 weeks.
Assessment. We analyze the existing Tradebyte setup: Which marketplaces are connected? Which feeds are running? How is order synchronization configured? What attribute mappings exist?
Channable setup. Based on the assessment, we build the new setup in Channable. Feeds are created, rules defined, attribute mappings configured, and order synchronization set up. We use our proven templates from over 120 projects.
Parallel operation. For a short period, both systems run in parallel. This ensures all feeds work correctly, orders are synchronized properly, and no data is lost.
Go-live. Once everything runs smoothly, Tradebyte is shut down and the contract can be terminated.
As a Channable Gold Partner, we have direct access to Channable’s development team and priority support. This speeds up the process and minimizes risk.
Conclusion
Tradebyte is a solid product for large enterprise setups in the fashion space. But for many brands, it’s simply too expensive, too complex, and too inflexible. Channable offers a transparent, more affordable, and industry-agnostic alternative. The switch can be done in a few weeks, and we’ve successfully guided it multiple times.
